Nico

Available for Adoption!

Nico was recently adopted, but returned to the rescue when he bit a stranger that walked into the house. It was only his second day in his new home and he was scared and over-reactive. STRANGERS are SCARY to him!

During his one day at his new house he had already begun bonding with his new owner, sleeping in bed with her and following her around the house.  We think this is evidence that Nico can succeed. We also know how loving he is to his foster mom, so we are not giving up on the little guy!

Despite his history, and a minor medical condition, we believe this little dog has a lot of love to give, and can be successfully placed in the right home. After reading Nico’s story if you think you are able to give him a second chance, we would love to hear from you.

Nico lived with a family in Austin, but escaped from their yard and was terribly hurt. A good samaritan brought him to Austin Animal Shelter. His owners decided not to take him back, so AAC gave him the medical help he needed and transferred him to our little rescue. He has fully recovered and is cheerful and healthy.

Nico currently lives with several dogs. He loves all of them, and sleeps so close to his Foster Mom that it’s ridiculous.  He loves attention, snacks and going for walks. Chasing squirrels in the yard is his favorite game.

Nico has a medical condition called Mega-Esophagos.  It’s surprisingly common in dogs.  It does not require medicine, special food or any type of treatment; he simply needs to eat sitting in a special chair called a Bailey Chair. The video posted above will show you what we mean.

Nico needs a person that can take the time to gain his trust.  He will reward you with all the love he has to give-and this is a lot because Nico has the world’s biggest heart! We think Nico would do best in a quiet household with little traffic.

Nico is two years old, healthy, has all his shots, is heartworm negative and comes with his special chair. He eats regular dog food, drinks water with no problem and likes small soft treats.
